A New Generation of Monofilament Sutures
MZF4 Medical launches Mazter Polybutester: a new generation of monofilament sutures!
Just one month after introducing Mazlene Plus and following two years of dedicated R&D, MZF4 Medical is proud to unveil its newest innovation: Mazter Polybutester, a monofilament suture made of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).
Manufactured entirely in-house at our extrusion facility, Mazter Polybutester will be available in USP sizes 7/0 to 2, pigmented with blue phthalocyanine (dye stuff encapsulated in a polymer-compatible masterbatch) incorporated using gravimetric dosing systems.
The product is delivered with a full biocompatibility test dossier in compliance with ISO 10993 standards, ensuring safety and performance for critical medical applications.
Mazter Polybutester key features:
• Smooth passage through tissue: Monofilament structure reduces drag and minimizes trauma.
• Low tissue reactivity: Chemically inert PBT elicits minimal inflammatory response.
• High tensile strength with flexibility: Maintains knot security without excessive stiffness.
• Hydrophobic surface: Minimizes fluid absorption and risk of bacterial colonization.
• UV stability: Suitable even for ophthalmic applications where light exposure may occur postoperatively.
Mazter Polybutester recommended applications:
• Ophthalmic surgery: for delicate ocular tissues.
• Cardiovascular surgery: in vessel approximation and graft fixation.
• Plastic & reconstructive surgery: where minimal scarring is essential and for barbed sutures.
• Microsurgery: thanks to its fine diameter and low tissue trauma.
• General soft tissue approximation: especially when long-term strength and low reactivity are required.
For over 40 years, MZF4 Medical has been a global reference in non-absorbable surgical sutures. This launch reaffirms our ongoing commitment to innovation, precision manufacturing, and medical performance. Stay tuned many more advancements are on the way.
