Personal Experience with Sports Medicine Solutions

At MZF4 Medical, we continuously strive to provide solutions that transform lives through innovation in medical supplies. Recently, we experienced a remarkable moment: our CEO, Claudio Mazzaferro, underwent rotator cuff repair surgery. This process highlighted the importance of the Sports Medicine products developed by MZF4 Medical.

 

The surgery, performed with precision and excellence by Dr. Wagner Castropil, Head of MZF4 Medical Technical Advisory Board, followed the steps below:

• A 7cm incision made on the lateral aspect of the thigh, the fascia lata

• A 13×4 cm graft of the fascia lata obtained and cleaned

• A continuous suture done throughout all of its borders

• Arthroscopic view of the shoulder, with debridement of the subacromial space, identification of the supraspinatus tear, retracted at the glenoid level

• Two 4.5 bioabsorbable anchors inserted medial, repairing the posterior border of the infraspinatus and biceps tendon

• Four sliding knots used to repair the tendons, keeping the anterior and posterior ones

• Graft inserted through the extended anteromedial portal and fixed with the anterior and posterior sutures

• Two bioabsorbable lateral anchors used to fix the graft at the lateral part of the greater tuberosity (tuberoplasty)

Two weeks after surgery, Claudio was using a shoulder sling and performing only pendular movements. The rehabilitation process began shortly thereafter and contributed to his full recovery. He has since returned to his activities at the company.
